Meet Dr. Dowling
Hello!
I’m Dr. Will Dowling, and I consider myself very lucky to do what I love in a place that I love. I was raised in Shelburne and Charlotte, spending summers hiking and getting out on Lake Champlain, and winters skiing. I went to Rice where I played hockey and participated in Stunt Nite. I left the 802 to go to college and explore the world outside of VT.
My first stop was Holy Cross in Worcester, MA where I majored in chemistry. While applying for dental school, I took a year to volunteer with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps in St. Louis, MO as a Middle School Math and Science Tutor.
I then attended Boston University Dental School where I earned my doctorate and, more importantly, met my lovely wife, Miranda. I attended dental school on a scholarship through the Navy and started 5 years of active duty service following graduation.
I completed a General Practice Residency program at the Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Virginia where I spent time with all dental specialties to expand and refine my clinical skills. After residency, I shipped out on the USS OAK HILL as the Dental Department Head, running a solo private practice at sea. I also became the ship’s Air Traffic Controller. I then moved to Little Creek Base in Virginia Beach where I had the privilege of working as a dentist for the Navy SEAL and Special Warfare community for two years.
While finishing up our time in Virginia, Miranda and I had our first child, Archie, who joined our dog, Fiadh, in our growing home. When I concluded my time serving in the Navy, we decided to move back to Vermont to put down roots and raise our family in the unique and wonderful community we love.
Outside of dentistry, I love woodworking in the garage in the winter and disc golfing in the summer. I look forward to making more memories in my home state, providing high quality care to my patients, and getting to know many more great Vermonters along the way.

2026 marks my 4th year working in the Dental industry, over these years I have found myself working in Data Entry, Treatment Coordination, Front Desk Reception, Scheduling, New Patient Coordination, and many other areas – if it applies to Dental Office Administration, I have probably done it!
Outside of the Dental world I spend my time exploring Vermont and all it has to offer alongside my partner. We greatly enjoy travelling to small towns and exploring what they have to offer, especially when one of the offerings is Mini Golf! Although I don’t win against him as often as I would like, we always have a great time.
And finally, a large part of who I am is being a Martial Artist. I started Taekwondo at 6 years old and I am now a third degree black-belt. My Taekwondo experience has taught me some of the greatest traits a person can possess.

As I enter my 20th year as a dental assistant, I’m still amazed at how quickly the time has flown by! Dentistry has always been close to my heart. My grandfather was a dentist, and from a young age, I aspired to follow in his footsteps. That early passion has grown into a rewarding career centered around patient care.
I take pride in creating a calm, welcoming environment and helping patients feel at ease during their visits. My goal is to shift the perception of dental care by making each experience as positive and comfortable as possible.
I stay very busy with my Fiancé and 4 active young boys who are ready for adventures at all times! We hardly stand still between school, sports, boating and exploring all Vermont has to offer.

2026 begins my 29th year in dental hygiene. I remain grateful for a career built on caring for others, building lasting relationships, and helping patients feel comfortable. Over the years, I’ve learned that kindness, compassion, and a gentle touch can make all the difference. I continue to enjoy the people I meet, the stories I hear, and the opportunity to make a positive impact each day.
When I’m not working, I enjoy hiking, fishing, kayaking, travelling and cooking for my family and friends. Any day on the water is a great day! I have two incredible sons, Kyle and Wyatt, that are recent college graduates and have started their own amazing careers. I have a spunky little dog, Rusty, that is my sidekick in many of my adventures.
I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of the amazing team at 802 Dental.
